Ceramicist, Illustrator & Zinester
Christine Lykkeh
She/her
Copenhagen, Denmark
My practice mixes high-brow and low-brow culture, where accessibility, imagination and the everyday meet.
Working across illustration, painting, zines (self-published magazines) and ceramics, I use elements of magical realism to transform familiar narratives into surreal, symbolic worlds. I am particularly interested in how myth and folklore persist in modern life. We can still see ourselves through these old stories, and there is a growing need to reconnect with our ancestors in order to archive cultural heritage and learn from the past as we shape the future.

My visuals are populated by non-human, non-gendered figures navigating dreamy landscapes that draw from both collective memory and personal experiences.
I often work with accesible, tactile materials such as cardboard, paper, and clay. These materials allow for an unpretentious and direct relationship between artwork and viewer and support my commitment to a non-exclusionary art practice.
Across all media, my work aims to create spaces where imagination becomes a shared language, inviting viewers from different backgrounds to recognize themselves in stories that blur the ordinary and the fantastical.
